The G20 summit in Brisbane provides an opportunity for rational discussion about world affairs including with Russian President Vladimir Putin, says the federal leader of the Palmer United Party and Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer.
“Mr Putin’s attendance allows for discussions to be held face-to-face in a rational way on how the people of the world can work together better,’’ Mr Palmer said.
“Mr Putin recently withdrew 17,000 Russian troops from the Ukrainian border and should be commended on that action.
“However, we do need to seek resolutions on outstanding issues and the G20 provides a forum for this to now take place.
“The G20 is an excellent opportunity for discussions in relation to Australia and Russia’s future together.
“The summit allows for Australia to join the world stage. As the host country, we will have a pivotal role in discussions with leading countries including the United States, China and Russia.
“This platform gives us solid foundation for meaningful discussion in a rational environment.”
